HUCKNALL CLUBS JOIN FORCES

Hucknall Town Football Club and local youth set up Hucknall Warriors Football Club are creating an association commencing this coming season. The two clubs will embark on creating a new relationship aimed at delivering an exciting future for football in the area.

Hucknall Town FC is a Charter Standard family friendly community football club established as Hucknall Colliery Welfare FC in 1943. The Club was renamed Hucknall Town FC in 1987 and rose up through the football pyramid. From 1999 to 2004 Hucknall Town F.C. played in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, winning the championship in the 2003-4 season.

Hucknall Warriors FC was formed in 2006 and is primarily a youth football club but also contains a senior team which will remain part of the Warriors set up providing a route for the youth players into Senior football.

Warriors have long been recognised as a well-respected football club attaining the stringent FA Charter Standard award in 2007 and maintaining it ever since. It currently has 5 teams across its network.

The two clubs will create a formal Association but due to the nature and legislation surrounding youth soccer, will maintain their separate management and identities working hand in hand to deliver benefits to both parties and will work to create a single entity over time.

Both clubs will benefit from a new ground and move to new facilities, planned for 2019.

Hucknall Warriors FC will play at both Town’s ground currently located on Watnall Road before the planned relocation and will also retain its pitches at Holgate to allow for future expansion.

The idea behind this association is to create a larger and stronger set up for the benefit of the local community where the youth element can be developed further and in time provide a feeder in to the Warriors Senior team and Town’s senior first team.

Both clubs have agreed to commence a 12-month trial which will explore potential long-term plans to make the association permanent with a further announcement on this being made during 2019.

Bob Scotney Chairman of HTFC said:
“The association with Warriors will bring a new chapter in the history of Hucknall Town Football Club. It will create a structured future for football in the Hucknall area, combining all age groups. These are exciting times ahead with the construction of the new stadium underway. This will provide a great opportunity for the football club to better serve the community that supports it and it’s something that befits what is a milestone for Hucknall Town, being its 75th Anniversary year”.

Paul Burley, founder and Chairman of HWFC said:
“After 12 years of creating a well-structured and well respected operation, the association with Hucknall Town is a natural and wonderful progression for the club. The possibilities of a combined entity are there for all to see and we will be working together closely to explore ways to further increase the identity of local football in the area, increase the involvement of the local community and create something special over time. Hopefully the ultimate beneficiaries of this association will be the community of Hucknall and surrounding areas”.

Andy Graves First Team Manager HTFC said:
“After the much documented troubles of the past, Hucknall Town FC is in a very much stronger and stable position both on and off the field. The attendances at home games have steadily risen to the best in Central Midlands and better than many at two and three levels above - we are grateful for the support that the Hucknall community has given to the club and with exciting times ahead with the development of a stunning new stadium it gives the club the opportunity to further its involvement within youth football with the exciting link up with Hucknall Warriors FC. After months of positive discussions between Warriors and Hucknall Town we feel the time is right to forge a strong relationship that will encourage even more awareness for both clubs in the community and offer local young players a pathway into the first team from youth football in a very professionally and structured environment. Hucknall Warriors have proven over many years to be a successful and well run football club and that fits well with the ethos that has been generated over the last four seasons at Hucknall Town”.
