Reserves back to Winning Ways

After a week off due to the bad weather Hucknall Town Reserves got back to football action with a home game against Bilborough Town. The two teams had already met this season and Bilborough had taken victory 3-2 in a close fought match.

Hucknall fielded Trev Lindo, Connor Whyles and Ethan Greenidge in a strong looking squad. However, it was Bilborough who took the lead after 15mins with a breakaway goal scored by impressive striker David Olitamode. Yellows moved the ball around nicely and found plenty of space in the wide areas but just couldn't score the goal their play deserved. Kieran Orange, Olly Peate, Lindo and Whyles all had opportunities but failed to find the back of the net. Blaine McGrory pulled off a fine safe to deny Bilborough a second. Hucknall defender Ally Staley's first-time volley from a corner at close range looked set for the goal, but somehow the opposition keeper managed to deflect it up and onto the bar and away to safety. With 5mins of the half left Hucknall finally got back on level terms when Henry Cheetham lofted the ball up and over the keeper from close range.

Hucknall sensed the opportunity to put the game to bed and threw everything at the opposition in the early stages of the second half. Whyles and Orange were replaced by Jackson and Greenidge and it was the latter who won the penalty from which Lindo scored what turned out to be the winner. A red card was showed to the Bilborough central defender for his protest on the penalty decision. Josh Pearson, Lindo and Olly Peate all had chances to extend the lead, but the third goal just wouldn't come. However, with Bilborough tiring the points were secured which moved Hucknall up the table by four places.
