Hucknall Town Reserves started the 23-24 NSL1 season with a tricky fixture against Medan Vale at the RM Stadium. In the previous season Town had taken 4 out of 6 points against Vale.
Town introduced a number of new signings including Kai Bryon, Marshall Collingwood, Henry Cheetham and Kasey Fisher.
A scrappy first half from Town saw them take the lead through a terrific solo goal from Callum Orange only to be pegged back when Vale scored from a header after a corner. Orange completed his hattrick before half time and Hucknall looked comfortable despite not playing their best.
Half time: Hucknall Town Reserves 3-1 Meden Vale
The second half was much better from Town and after Orange grabbed his fourth the game was effectively done. Vale got a second when awarded a penalty, but all this did was move Hucknall up a gear once more and Kai Byron grabbed a goal on his debut before Reece Gatland slotted home Town's sixth.
