Reserves Architects of their own Downfall

Reserves travelled the short distance to Harvey Hadden Stadium to take on a new look Bilborough Town first team. The home side had started the season well with a win and a draw from their first two games. Hucknall were in buoyant mood after a 6-2 opening day win over Meden Vale.

Yellows thought they should have had a penalty in the opening moments of the game when Callum Orange was tackled from behind as he was about to 'pull the trigger' but the Referee disagreed, and wave play on. Hucknall did take the lead though after a terrific delivery from keeper Richardson found Fraser Hallam wide on the right. He raced to the byline and crossed the ball for Kieran Orange to smash home. Moments later great play from Callum Orange created an opening for himself only to blaze over the bar. Soon after, new signing Kasey Fisher tried a shot from distance with the keeper out of position, but it drifted narrowly wide.
Bilborough looked dangerous on the break and warning signs were there when their striker broke free only to be denied by a great save from Richardson.
The home side got back on level terms when Yellows failed to deal with a corner and just before half time they failed to react to a second ball after a free kick was parried by Richardson in the box and in the blink of an eye found themselves 2-1 down.

Bilborough extended their lead to 3 when Law blasted home from the narrowest of angles. But Hucknall rallied and Callum Orange headed home from close range to setup a grandstand finish. Try as they might, the goal just wouldn't come though, and Yellows had to settle for the loss knowing that they gifted this game to the home side.
