Cavaliers put Reserves to the Sword

The late August Bank Holiday weekend played havoc with the Reserves team this week with over half the squad unavailable for selection and a further 4 players returning from sickness to play
Callum Orange was promoted to the first team after a sparkling start to the season and Hucknall took the opportunity to give debuts to Alfie Clayton, Oliver Peate and Josh Pearson.
The first half couldn't have gone any worse for Town and a lacklustre performance saw them heading into the half time break losing by 4-0.

Peate and Pearson were introduced early in the second half and Hucknall looked in a much better shape, with Peat in particular catching the eye with some nice work on the right side of the pitch. Reece Gatland grabbed a goal with a well taken shot from just inside the penalty area. But further opportunities for Hucknall were not converted and the opposition took all 3 points at the final whistle.

Thankfully, the real Hucknall showed up in the second half of this game. But it was a case of too little, too late and they have to start better in future.
