Hucknall Town Reserves travelled to St Giles Park for this weekends away fixture in the NSL Division 1 to face AFC Sandiacre.
Due to injuries to Ricky Clayton, Josh Vere and Jack Harrison Yellows were without their usual midfield setup, but Joe Akolwa and Ally Staley stepped up to take on that role in the match day setup.
The first half saw Hucknall miss some glorious opportunities to take the lead, but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping by the home side kept the scores level at half times.
Half time: AFC Sandiacre 0-0 Hucknall Town Reserves
Yellows were awarded a penalty early in the second half for a foul on Marshall Collingwood and Kasey Fisher scored his first goal for club from the resultant spot kick. Shortly afterwards the impressive Oliver Peate got his first goal for the Yellows with a neat lob over the keeper after a quickly taken free-kick from skipper Aaron Roberts. Peate could have grabbed a second soon after, but his powerful shot drifted up and over the bar. In the sweltering heat, Hucknall introduced all their subs and Josh Pearson finished matters off with a brace of well-taken goals and was unlucky not to grab a third.
