Reserves make it four wins on the bounce with victory over Old Boys

Beeston Old Boys made the trip across town for this first visit to the RM stadium to take on Hucknall Town Reserves in an NSL1 clash over the weekend.
Hucknall were buoyed by a first clean sheet of the season in the previous game and were looking to make it four wins in a row.

The opening goal for Hucknall was one for the football purists in a move that totalled 18 passes before Josh Pearson slotted home coolly to the bottom left corner of the Old Boys goal. Moments later a terrific move saw a cross pick out Kieran Orange unmarked at the far post but his first time shot missed the target with the goal at his mercy. As the half wore on the opposition found their rhythm and started to cause Yellow some problems. But Hucknall held onto the lead thanks to some stout defending and good keeping from Alfie Clayton.
Half time: Hucknall Town Reserves 1-0 Beeston Old Boys

Beeston pulled level in the opening minute of the second half with a great finish after Hucknall failed to clear their lines. The game was end to end now, but both teams were guilty of some profligate finishing. Brad Evans, who had replaced fellow striker Pearson, worked a great opening for himself and looked set to score only to see his shot hit the inside of the post and away to safety. Not long afterwards great work from the impressive Kai Byron saw him smash a low cross into the 6 yard bBeeston Old Boys made the trip across town for this first visit to the RM stadium to take on Hucknall Town Reserves in an NSL1 clash over the weekend.

The game was end-to-end now, but both teams were guilty of some profligate finishing. Brad Evans, who had replaced fellow striker Pearson, worked a great opening for himself and looked set to score only to see his shot hit the inside of the post and rebound away to safety. Not long afterwards great work from the impressive Kai Byron saw him smash a low cross into the 6 yard box that Evans got a feint touch to, but the ball drifted agonisingly just wide of the target.
Finally, a moment of quality from Hucknall Skipper Aaron Roberts saw him drive forward from defence and split the Old Boys defence with a sublime pass to put Byron free. Byron raced clear of his markers and finished with aplomb. Beeston responded with a barrage of free kicks into the box, but once again Hucknall stood firm and keeper Clayton dealt expertly with everything thrown at him.
