Five goals and a clean sheet signal a perfect Saturday for Yellows.

After what felt like an age the Reserves finally got back to football with an away game against Beeston Old Boys. The match-day pitch was presented in a dreadful state, but Yellows were left in no doubt that they couldn't use this as an excuse for a poor performance.
With a number of players missing, it was a different looking Reserves team who were bolstered by the addition of Trev Lindo, Blaise Duruaku and Josh Ayna and the back line reverted to a 4 with Henry Cheetham slotting into left back.

Yellows got off to a terrific start and scored in the first minute when Duruaku was felled in the box and the same player stroked the ball expertly to the bottom corner from the penalty. This gave Hucknall a massive confidence boost and more chances came and went. A dangerous corner to the far post was somehow missed by everyone, but no matter as Hucknall extended their lead when Gains latched onto a ball in the penalty area and smashed home from close range. Before half time Gains grabbed a second and Hucknall's third when he danced free of his marker in the penalty area after a great ball into him from Ally Staley.
Half time: Beeston Old Boys 0-3 Hucknall Town Reserves.

Old Boys robust tactics in the second half were disappointing and if the game had been managed by 3 officials, they would surely have been reduced to 10 or even 9 players for a number of unsavoury incidents. Hucknall counted themselves lucky not to have players seriously injured but saw the game out with two further goals for a 5- victory. Gains completed his hat trick and Duruaku grabbed a second with a late penalty. In defence Hucknall looked rarely troubled and keeper McGrory secured a clean sheet with a second half save and reacted well to pounce on the loose ball before it crossed the line. Four games left to go and we'll give everything to finish as high as we can.
