Paul Burley26 Feb - 15:45

Skipper to focus on playoff place race

Aaron Short has announced his retirement from football from the end of this season.

After a 30 year playing career which commenced aged 4 at soccer school and included 4 years at Notts County Academy, Short joined Yellows in 2019 and became skipper the season after.

He has played an instrumental part in two promotions and a dramatic cup win last season at the One Call Stadium in that period along a battling escape from relegation.

His leadership on and off the pitch and his loyalty to our club has been there for all to see.

Short stated "my focus and the squads, remains firmly on trying to achieve a play off place this season and whilst I wanted to make my intentions clear to all, my commitment to the team and the club will remain until the last kick of the ball this season".

We will be speaking to Aaron at the end of the season for a full interview discussing his time at the club and in football. Meanwhile it goes without saying we are extremely grateful for his loyalty and commitment to our club and we will explore further his time with us at the end of the season.
