COMING NEXT - Bland on new signings and Saturday's challenge against Melton...

Melton Town v Yellows

We travel to Loughborough on Saturday to face third place Melton Town in the UCL Premier Division North. A stiff task, as Melton have had a good start to the season so Yellows will be hoping the recent signings made can play their part in providing Melton with a competitive match.

Joint Manager Louis Bland was candid in the lack of matches after last weeks late postponement to Eastwood CFC. "Another really disappointing Saturday with the weather this time stopping us from playing, which now means we have gone 3 Saturdays in a row without a game. With the weather we had no time to organise and train so it was a Saturday off completely for us. On the plus side it gave us another training session on Wednesday of this week to get further ideas across and plan for the Melton game as well as we can"

Since taking over the reigns, Bland and Limbert have been very active in making new signings and getting players down to training for evaluation. Bland continued. "We also announced over the weekend that Marley Okoth has joined us. He has worked with both of us before, with myself at Grantham for 4 years in the academy and he spent last pre season with Reece at Kimberley. He messaged us when we first got the job to see if he could come and train with us having been without a club since leaving Dunkirk without playing a game. He’s a welcome addition to the squad as he can play centre back, left back and centre midfield, meaning he gives us good cover in all areas. On the other recent addition, Mason Rowley has joined us from Leicester Nirvana. Rowley plays centre back and again will give us what we need to add to what we already have. Rowley has played at this level for the last couple of years for Nirvana and Newark but earlier in his career he played for Kidderminster Harriers.

Bland and Limbert will be hoping that the squad will be eager to continue on the road they were on in the league last month with improved performances. This weekend will be a real challenge as will the next few matches, but Bland is positive in his outlook on the game. "We are all looking forward to Saturday against a very good Melton team who currently sit 3rd in the league. They have been a good team in this league for the past 2 seasons and finished 4th last year. As always Reece and I have done our homework and implemented our plan in training on Wednesday, so we are ready for Saturday. Hopefully Harry Johnson, Mason Rowley and Marley Okoth (the three recent signings) can finally get their debuts after what seems like an eternity, especially since Johnson signed. With Melton playing at Loughborough Dynamo their attendances have fallen off, as they were very impressive at home last season, but it’s a long way from Melton for the regulars to travel, so we’re hoping that with our fantastic support, we can out number the Melton fans and have it feeling like a home game. We are going to need all the support we can get, especially with on paper, the toughest run of games in the next three matches, playing the top 3 all away from home."

Kick off on Saturday is 3pm
