Tomorrow night we face Carlton Town in the second round of the Nottinghamshire FA Saturday Senior Cup at the RM Stadium. Carlton who are currently top of the Northern Premier League, Midlands Division have had a fantastic few months but the cup is the cup and with a cup winners trophy to protect, Yellows will play all out to get a result tomorrow and progress in this competition.
At the weekend Yellows shared the spoils with Skegness in a tight affair but a point on the road, away after such a long trip was a result that the Manager was pleased with.
"Saturday was a tough test away at Skegness, and I felt a draw was probably a fair result in the end. The opposition started the brighter side, causing us some issues by getting the ball into good areas in our final third. We did have moments where we looked dangerous in wide areas but couldn’t quite find the breakthrough.
"In the second half, we adjusted our shape and looked more in control, but went one down after a well-worked move from Skegness. That setback seemed to spark our best spell of the game, as we had sustained possession in the opposition half and were eventually rewarded with a penalty. After that, neither team really found much rhythm or composure — the game became quite transitional and was often broken up by the referee’s decisions.
"Overall, I’m relatively happy with the result and pleased with the character shown by the players. We’ll take the positives into what will be another tough test against Carlton on Wednesday".
It is all set up for an exciting encounter at the RM Stadium and it all gets underway at 7.45pm.
Please note that season tickets and passes are not valid for this cup match.
