LIMBERT REFLECTS ON THE WEEKENDS RESULT AND TOMORROWS HOME MATCH

LIMBERT REFLECTS ON THE WEEKENDS RESULT AND TOMORROWS HOME MATCH

Paul Burley30 Jul 2024 - 06:15

Yellows V Belper Utd

Tomorrow night we play our first home league match in the UCL Premier Division North as we welcome Belper United to the RM Stadium.

Saturday's trip to Sleaford ended in disappointment as the Greens took one of only a few chances they had on 85 minutes to take all three points, but Manager Reece Limbert was happy with the overall performance. "I thought we were at least deserving of a point today. I felt we had the better chances and certainly dominated the ball, but ultimately Sleaford took their chances and scored the decisive goal. We defended brilliantly for 85 minutes and created multiple chances but we fell short in both departments and Sleaford showed why they’ve been in and around the playoffs for the past few seasons with the clinical manner in which they scored".

As is often the case with opening encounters, Yellows were missing a number of players as Limbert explained. "I’m proud of the performance considering we had 11 players unavailable today due to holidays, injuries and illness and I take confidence from the performance today leading into Wednesday’s fixture against Belper United. Belper travel here after a 2-2 draw against Melton Town. They’ll provide another stern test for us and I expect them to be much improved over last season after a host of great signings in the summer. Belper, like us, are a new team at step 5 and will be hoping to build upon a recent promotion and I’m confident that Wednesday's game will be hotly contested between two young and talented squads".

The match kicks off at the RM at 7.45pm with the Aerial suite and club shop open from 6.30pm.

An opportunity for supporters to get behind us on our first home league match and an opportunity to open up our account in terms of points on the board.
