Today is derby day...as we travel the short distance to Eastwood CFC in the UCL Premier Division North.
Always an entertaining match between these two teams and a win could see us really competing towards the top of the table. There will be a lot of confidence taken from the emphatic victory over Newark & Sherwood on Tuesday, but with injuries still a challenge the squad will need to be 'on it' this afternoon.
We are disappointed to report that following a scan on striker Niall Towle the outcome has resulted in a significant injury including a torn ACL, two fractures and multiple ligament strains which will see him out of action for a number of months and he will not figure in any matches for the remainder of this season.
This is the second player out for the remainder of the season as Brad Lathall has a dislocated shoulder and ligament damage and will be undergoing surgery. Whilst his recovery will depend on a number of factors, it is likely that he will not be fit enough to play for the remainder of this season.
As a club we are all saddened to hear this news and will be supporting Niall and Brad through the following weeks and months. When they are able to, they will play a part in the ongoing first team squad activities and be around the team during the rest of the season, but for now our thoughts are with both players.
Kick off this afternoon at Coronation Park is 3pm.
