Yellows have yet another home match this weekend, the second of four consecutive home matches at the RM stadium, five if you count the match last Saturday that was abandoned midway through the second half.
The match on Saturday against local rivals Eastwood CFC, sat at 1-1 thanks to a header from Reece Sugars when at half time a downpour occurred, which eventually left the pitch unplayable and on 63 minutes the referee sent the players back to the changing room.
Manager Tris Whitman was in agreement with the officials decision to abandon the match.
"Saturdays game ended in disappointment as it fell victim to the weather after a heavy downpour towards the end of the first half and in the second half made the pitch unsafe for play and after a discussion between ourselves and Eastwood, we felt the right decision was to abandon the game.
"I felt the first half was really positive considering the condition of the pitch and at times we moved the ball really well. Eastwood presented problems due to altering their formation and players positions throughout, which meant we had to adapt at times to what they did. However I felt we got to grips with this after the first 20 mins and were comfortable before taking the lead from a Parkes corner, Sugars heading home.
"In the second half the pitch became more difficult to play on and Eastwood equalised through a goal which I felt we could have dealt with better defensively. That goal seemed to swing momentum and Eastwood looked lively for a short spell before we regained our composure prior to the match being called off.
"We have been training away from the ground this week in preparation for our home game against Newark Town this coming weekend".
Newark Town, the visitors on Saturday, sit third in the table and will present a challenge. But with the home advantage and home following and given Yellows have proved that on their day they can match most teams in the league, this one will be an interesting encounter.
It all kicks off at 3pm with the Aerial suite open for food and drinks at 1.30pm, along with the club shop.
Please note that the rearranged tie with Eastwood CFC will be played on Wednesday 18th February at the RM Stadium at 7.45pm and this match will be FREE entry for all supporters.
