NEXT UP AND REACTION FROM THE MANAGER ON REACHING CUP FINAL...

Paul Burley6 Mar - 08:11

Yellows v Skegness Town

After a superb performance and win last night which gave Yellows a place in the Nottinghamshire FA Saturday Senior Cup final, where they will face Newark & Sherwood, we now turn our attention to this weekend's home league fixture, where we host Skegness Town.

Last night in front of a crowd of 434 Yellows rose to the occasion and ran out worthy winners and Manager Tris Whitman was very happy with his squads performance. "Going into the game we felt quietly confident we could get a positive result due to both teams current form. We started the game brightly which set the tone for the rest of the game. Out of possession we were really aggressive and made it uncomfortable for Basford and denied them playing forwards with any quality. In possession we combined well and exploited space behind their back line which forced them to drop deeper.

"We deservedly took the lead through Brad Wells, after brilliant work on the left from Dillon and Joey. We then doubled that lead through Wells with a similar goal to the weekend, after a direct ball from Luke.

"I felt we managed the second half really well and nullified Basford to limited opportunities and could have possibly added more goals to make it more comfortable. Overall a really pleasing victory".

With Skegness just a few places above Yellows, Saturday provides another test but also an opportunity to put space between ourselves and the pack below us. Whitman continued. "We now focus on Saturday's game against Skegness where we will assess the squad and possibly make some changes to utilise other players.

It is all set for yet another exciting afternoon at the RM, so join us as the Aerial Suite and club shop open from 1.30pm and don't forget to grab your copy of our packed match day programme.
