The towering 6ft 1in defender, who came through Nottingham Forest's prestigious academy ranks, crosses the local divide to add physical presence, aerial dominance, and elite distribution to the Yellows' backline.
A Statement Defensive Coup
Gbopo’s arrival sends a clear message about Hucknall Town's ambitions. The left-footed central defender is a rare and highly sought-after commodity in non-league football. Known for his ability to comfortably play out from the back and orchestrate transitional play, Gbopo spent his developmental years playing high-level youth football for Forest's U18 and U21 squads before making the move to Eastwood in late 2025.
During his tenure at Coronation Park, Gbopo established a reputation as a highly dependable and robust asset, even threatening the opposition box during set-pieces—memorably rattling the crossbar in a vital cup clash against Skegness Town earlier this season.
Crucial Timing for the Yellows
The timing of the transfer couldn't be better for Hucknall. With a gruelling winter fixture schedule underway, bolstering the defensive ranks with academy-honed talent gives the Yellows exactly the depth they need to push up the table.
Ironically, the fixture computer adds an extra layer of drama to the transfer. Hucknall Town are slated to travel away to face Gbopo's former side, Eastwood CFC, at Coronation Park on Saturday, 14th November. The young centre-back will no doubt be eager to settle into the Yellows' lineup quickly and make a lasting impression when he returns to his old stomping grounds in a Yellow shirt.
Everyone at RM Stadium wishes Tony a warm welcome to the club!
