Greenidge screamer seals victory for Yellows under the lights

Stewart Bowley13 Apr 2023 - 11:01

Reserves Beat Bilborough 3-1 in midweek fixture at the RM Stadium to go level fourth on points.

The Reserves hectic schedule of matches continued with their fourth game in 12 days. This time they entertained Bilborough Town at the RM, a team who had improved dramatically since Yellows visited the Harvey Hadden stadium a couple of months ago.
Hucknall welcomed back Aaron Roberts into the starting line-up and included 18yr old Harrison Eastwood in the squad after his recent signing.

As per recent games, Yellows started well but were wasteful in front of goal and hurried their shots instead of taking an extra moment to settle themselves or find a better option.
It wasn't until around 20mins that Hucknall took the lead from a penalty when Callum Clarke scored after being dragged down in the box. Further chances came and went for Yellows and a second was scored when David Briggs smashed home from close range.
Half time: Hucknall Town Reserves 2-0 Bilborough Town

A good start to the second half saw the goal of the game scored by Yellows right-back Ethan Greenidge. He picked the ball up out wide, cut inside his marker and curled a super shot into the far corner - another contender for Goal of the Season. Hucknall were well on top now and looking for more goals, but an innocent looking ball over the top of Yellows defenders caught them in two minds and the Bilborough striker nipped in to steal the ball. Roberts’s tackle failed to connect with the ball and a penalty was awarded which was expertly dispatched. This gave the visitors some new found hope of getting something from the game and for 10 mins they looked dangerous. However, Hucknall weathered the storm and eventually settled back into a good pattern of play. Fraser Hallam and Callum Orange both had shots cleared off the line, a Briggs header was saved, and Jack Harrison narrowly missed at the far post. But at the final whistle Hucknall celebrated their third league win on the bounce to move to 46 points and a share of fourth place.
