Heartbreak for Reserves in Senior Trophy

Reserves travelled over to Blidworth for their first round Senior Trophy match this weekend.
Blidworth had made a good start to the season and included many players from the title winning side that subsequently disbanded and dropped out of the United Counties League.

Hucknall started really well and ought to have taken the lead earlier on had it not been for the opposition keeper and some profligate shooting.
However, it was the home side who scored the first goal of the game after pouncing on a mistake in the Hucknall backline and soon after they grabbed a second. But Yellows continued to look dangerous, in particular from wide areas where Kieran Orange and Oliver Peate did really well. Orange's corners posed a constant threat and Blidworth were indebted to their keeper and the woodwork for keeping their goal intact.

Hucknall changed things around in the second half and introduced both Joe Akolwa and Lewis Ridley-Phoenix. The game was fairly even until around 70 mins when Yellows grabbed a goal when Kieran Orange beat his man out wide on the left and picked out Oliver Peate who smashed home. As the game entered injury time Hucknall grabbed an equaliser when Peate danced through the backline and slotted home to the bottom corner. The game looked to be heading for a penalty shootout, but somehow Blidworth forced a ball home through a crowded area to win it in the 96th min.

Cruel luck for Yellows who did more than enough to win this game, but that's football I'm afraid. The performance was great and we were more than a match for a decent opposition - so we'll build on that.
