Hucknall moved to within one point of winning the league with a comfortable victory at The Mease, Hilton.
Michael Banister deputised as captain as David Leak dropped to the subs bench with Aaron Short moving to centre back.
Town were on the front foot from the start and took the lead on 25 mins when Jack Smiths speculative drive from just outside the box found the bottom corner of the net.
Hilton responded with a period of possession and a couple of half chances whilst Town were happy to play possession football. In truth the game lacked the intensity of Tuesday nights game at Matlock and had the air of an end of season game.
Just into the second half Shane Newtons headed goal sealed the points. It was the Yellow’s 100th goal of this seasons league campaign.
Town could have had more having free kicks in dangerous positions and Hilton forced Randall into one decent save but the game ran it’s course leaving Hucknall with one point to get from their remaining three games. It could even be over by Thursday night should Matlock fail to beat Mickleover.
Town subs were Brown for Phillips and Nelson for Brian
