Hucknall had to make do with a point after an own goal equaliser deep into added on time gave the Red Badgers a share of the points.

Hucknall dominated the proceedings in the first half being quicker to the ball and brighter against a surprisingly poor Eastwood defence. They had to wait until the 26th minute before Joe Ashurst scored his first of a stunning hat trick, turning sharply on the edge of the box before placing a low shot in the corner of the net.

Ashurst then repeated the feat three minutes before the break with another effort from the edge of the box which seemed to deceive Macdonald who should have done better.

The only downside for Hucknall in the half was an injury to Ethan Greenidge who had to be replaced by fans favourite Josh Henry. Henry very nearly scored a spectacular goal of his own going on one of his typical gung ho runs before unleashing a terrific shot just wide of the angle.

Hucknall went into the break with a deserved 2 goal lead but Eastwood could only improve on a poor first half showing.

And so it proved as Eastwood began the second half in a much better style.

Joe Harrison replaced Danny Hayes just after the break as Eastwood were more positive but Hucknall’s defence looked solid.

Nine minutes into the half the first sloppy bit of defending gave Eastwood their first real shot on target and resulted in a goal as Matt Antcliff’s smart finish brought Eastwood right back into the game.

West carr replaced Mulonga on 68 mins as Eastwood looked for an Equaliser.

On 73 minutes a moment of sheer class gave Hucknall a two goal cushion. Joe Ashurst sealed his hat trick when he noticed the visiting keeper way off his line and from 45 yards found the net. The vision and execution was sublime.

Ashurst was immediately subbed after the goal being replaced by Jack smith. Alexander- Raymond replaced Hubbard.

At this point it looked like the three points were heading to Watnall Road but to their credit Eastwood rolled up their sleeves and hauled themselves back into the game.

0n 79 minutes Eastwood were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box and Kieran Harrison passed the ball around the wall and into the bottom corner of the net with Jablonski stranded.

Eastwood changed goalkeepers right after the goal with Macdonald being replaced by George Warren.

Both sides had chances but as the game was deep into added on time Eastwood got an equaliser courtesy of an own goal when Josh Henry in attempting to clear the ball put a cross into the net.

The fact that Eastwood celebrated the draw at the end tells you all you need to know.

Right after the game a draw probably felt like a defeat for the home side and a victory for the visitors but Hucknall have 11 points from 15 and remain unbeaten and have made a superb start to life in the EMCL.
