Hucknall made four changes from the side that won 2-1 at Bourne in the FA Vase. Adam Jablonski, Cayne Maxwell, Tom Hubbard and Isaac Anderson-Raymond, replacing Jake Pearson, Oliver Brown, Jack Smith and Kimani Wilson. Joe Ashurst was still unavailable after the red card he was received at Rainworth.

The early exchanges were mainly in the Hucknall half, with the Yellows forced into playing more directly than usual.

Heanor's best chances were James Ozmen firing across the face of goal and Jesse Vowles shooting over.

Hucknall’s only efforts in the first half were a Sam Simms free kick over the bar and a Jordan Phillips header wide.

Heanor took the lead on 41 minutes, a poor Hucknall clearance was picked up by Heanor's leading scorer Jamie Sleigh who found Sam Birks who shot home past Jablonski.

Heanor still had the time to almost extend their lead close to half time, but Jablonski was equal to Birks’s shot.

The second half started in very similar style with Birks’s shot again saved by Jablonski.

On 51 minutes Hucknall had their first shot on target, with Anderson-Raymond’s shot saved by Jordan Pierrepoint. A rare mistake by Heanor saw Matt Brian steal in from the away team’s throw in, but his lob from outside the box was just too high.

When a Hucknall corner was cleared by Sleigh to Birks, the Heanor scorer was denied in a one-on-one by Jablonski.

Hucknall made two substitutions with Kjally Danso replacing Michael Bannister and recent signing Kimani Wilson replacing Anderson-Raymond on the left wing.

With 20 minutes remaining in the game Hucknall received a boost with Heanor midfielder Max Thornberry being shown a second yellow card for a bad challenge on Tom Hubbard.

Hucknall pressed forward as they now had to, Bryan came close after Pierrepoint failed to deal with a through ball to Danso, who also headed over from Sam Simms cross.

Jablonski tipped an Ozmen shot wide for a Heanor corner. With Hucknall chasing the game Shaun Roulston nearly doubled Heanor’s lead from the edge of the box, but his shot was blocked on the line.

Hucknall made their final change with Adam Nelson replacing Jamie Crawford. The tireless Maxwell battled hard down the right wing, with his cross almost dropping in, and a shot by Wilson forced Pierrepoint into a sharp save.

The last chance was for Sleigh, but his shot was against the post.

Final score Hucknall Town 0-1 Heanor Town

Unused substitutes Oliver Brown and Jack Smith.

Hucknall’s unbeaten start to the season was ended in front of a crowd of 205, the third highest in the EMCL this season. Hucknall drop to eighth below Heanor and Wednesday night’s opponents Ingles.
