After the disappointment of letting a two goal lead slip against Eastwood CFC on Bank Holiday Monday Hucknall themselves had to come back not once but twice from the dead with a stoppage time equaliser in normal time and then an incredible period of extra time saw the Yellows not only equalise again in the added on time of extra time but also score an unlikely winner with virtually the last kick of the game.
Holbrook were extremely unfortunate not to take their Step 6 opponents to at least a replay as Hucknall produced a disappointing display until the extra time period.

Hucknall as predicted made a lot of changes due to player unavailability and players being rested and could only name three substitutes with the development side also having a game.

Jake Pearson played in goal (at the start) Jamie Crawford moved to right back. Ben Jones came in at centre back for a rare appearance. Adam Nelson started up front with Anderson-Raymond. It was still a reasonably strong selection.
The first half was a little bit of a non-event with both teams cancelling out each other and the only real chance of the half for Hucknall was a powerful Ben Jones header which Joe Evans cleared superbly off the line. Holbrook shaded the half and had a golden chance to take the lead but the ball was blasted over the bar from close range.

The second half was pretty much the same as Hucknall continued to misplace passes and Holbrook could sense an upset.
Holbrook made three changes and continued to frustrate the home team. It came as no surprise when Holbrook broke the deadlock in the 85th minute. Lee Hillier providing the final touch to get the ball home. It was no more than the visitors deserved and it looked like it would be enough to take the visitors through.

The most telling substitution was the entrance to the game of Matt Brian who came on for Nelson. Hucknall suddenly had a target man who could hold up the ball. Indeed it was Brian who scored the equaliser deep into added on time. Hucknall threw everyone forward and Brian slotted home despite frantic attempts to clear the ball by the Holbrook defence.
The game went into extra time and any thoughts that this would be easy were soon dispelled when Holbrook took a two goal lead. First Lee Hillier was left totally unmarked at the far post to make it 2 1 on 98 minutes and then three minutes later Jordan Lee made it 3 1 despite two fine saves from Pearson in the same move. Michael Banister was given a yellow card and 10 minutes in the sin bin for arguing with the referee about Holbrooks 3rd goal.

This left Hucknall with a mountain to climb but Aaron Short pulled a goal back before the half time of extra time.
Adam Jablonski then replaced Anderson-Raymond who was unable to continue. Jablonski went in goal and Pearson went upfront as did Montell Gatland who had replaced Jack Smith.

Holbrook defended as Hucknall looked to find a way back but as the game drifted into added on time it looked a forlorn effort.
Michael Banister had other ideas though and his shinned effort from the edge of the box took a deflection and the ball looped over the stranded Whittingham and into the net to send the home fans delirious.

As if that was enough there was another twist to come. Gatland was sent through on goal but Whittingham made a superb save and looked to have earned a replay at Holbrook. But incredibly Gatland scored on the final attack. After a session of pinball in the box the ball fell to Gatland with his back to goal he looped the ball goal-wards and it eluded everybody and went in the net to send Hucknall through to the next round in unbelievable fashion.

Hucknall will now face UCL div 1 side Bourne Town away on September 14th in the next round.
